Help Support Chef Omar's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share that our beloved friend and colleague, Chef Omar, recently suffered a severe stroke. As he begins the long and uncertain journey of recovery, we are coming together as a community to support him through this incredibly difficult time. Chef Omar has been a pillar of The Popal Group for over 15 years, and now it’s our turn to be there for him.
Chef Omar is more than just a colleague—he’s a mentor, a friend, a brother, and the kind of person who always shows up with a smile, no matter how hard the day is. His work ethic, warmth, and deep sense of loyalty have helped shape the kitchen culture of every restaurant he's touched within our group from Café Bonaparte to Lutece and beyond.
If you’ve ever had a meal in one of our kitchens, chances are it was seasoned with Chef Omar’s care, skill, and love. For over a decade, he has been a steady and integral guiding presence, always putting the success of the team above all else.
His medical costs are already mounting, and the road ahead includes hospital stays, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and an extended period where he will be unable to work. His family is doing all they can, but the financial burden is overwhelming.
We are raising funds to help cover:
- Immediate and ongoing medical bills
- Rehabilitation and physical therapy expenses
- Rent, groceries, and essential living expenses while he is unable to work
Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping Chef Omar recover with dignity and without the crushing weight of financial hardship.
If you’ve worked with Chef Omar, eaten food made by his hands, or simply want to support someone who has spent his life feeding and caring for others, please consider making a donation. No amount is too small. Sharing this campaign with your network would also mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing up for a man who has given so much to so many for so long. We are hopeful that, with love, support, and time, Chef Omar will make a strong recovery. Let’s help him get there.
With gratitude,
The Popal Group
