Help Support Charielle’s Liver Disease Journey

Update: I have been released and is now home continuing my treatments. I’m also going through a situation with my sugar levels being way over the limit that is also causing some vision problems so I am now taking insulin for my sugar levels as well. Overall I am still staying strong and continuing my Journey! Thank you all for your help! Please share as much as you can for the continuous of help that is needed!

Hello my name is Charielle Johnson. I’m a 35 year old mother of 2 beautiful boys by the age of 12 and 5. 5 years ago I had Emergency Liver Transplant Surgery done. Since then I’ve had 4 liver rejections with 2 of them being within this year. Here is my story:  In 2018 I was pregnant with my last son and I had acute liver failure at the age of 30! I had to have my son early at 32 weeks where I then went septic and lost all memory and was unable to move or function. 7 days later I had to get an emergency liver transplant surgery or it would have been death. The doctors stated I was the youngest but the most critical patient in the hospital. I was unaware of everything that happened until  I woke up and the doctors explained to me my new life. Apparently I was poisoned by a deadly blood disorder (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis) that you mostly see in cancer patients. However, I did not have cancer and it completely killed my liver and at that time I was living off of the baby’s liver. I had to learn how to walk all over again, I had to learn how to do daily task all over and much more. Over the years I have had many of complications and I have had over 3 rejections with some of them being severe. This year along I have had two rejections with one being very severe. I am currently in the hospital now fighting for my life having another severe rejection which is requiring more attention than I have ever experienced while having my transplant. It has been 3 weeks now I have been through two rounds of treatments, all sorts of medication and at this moment nothing seems to be working to help my liver function correctly. I am experiencing jaundice as well. The doctors are taking all precautions and trying their best to figure out what is causing my liver to reject. I am praying that this does not turn into chronic rejection which will eventually turn into needing another transplant. This has been very hard for me and my family and I’m so much of a private person I normally will suffer and fight my way through but this time around i don’t have much fight in me! I am asking for help with medical expenses in my current time of need due to the fact I cannot work at this time, and insurance coverage alone is not enough to cover medical expenses. I pray every day that God will heal my liver and soul. I pray everyday that I get to live to see my two young sons turn into wonderful men and be all they can be.  I know this may be a long shot and I’m not asking for the world but I am asking for any help that I can get even a $1 helps!
