Hi everyone, if you know me, you know how much this girl has left an imprint on my life and how I’d do anything for her. Our poor girl Chanel aka Choochi aka Chanelita has been suffering with seizures for the last year and a half.

This Tuesday, Choochi endured an episode of seizures and unfortunately has been suffering with them on and off through the last 24 hours. Doctors can’t give us a definitive prognosis as it’s difficult to diagnose the cause of why this is happening. She is expected to undergo an MRI and possible spinal tap to help find some answers.

Her total costs in expenses are already over $8,000 so anything helps in this time of need. If you know me, you know Chanel and the loving, playful, and loyal spirit she carries. She is truly family to everyone she’s had the pleasure to spend time with. I want to continue to give her a fair shot at coming back from this and hope to do so with your help.

UPDATE (9/24/25)

Chanel had her MRI and spinal tap today. No tumors were found, there was some inflammation in her brain that is assumed to be due to her seizure activity in the last 24 hours. She recovered well after the anesthesia. Unfortunately, our girl developed aspirating pneumonia in the early evening. She has been seizure free since 8am and we hope it stays that way. They have had to alter her medications to be less sedating to help regulate her breathing which can increase the risk of seizure activity but her breathing is priority. She is receiving oxygen and considered oxygen dependent. The goal is to be off oxygen tomorrow. God willing she will remain seizure free with her maintenance medications while hospitalized so she can now recover from her pneumonia. She is resting comfortably, but still sedated. We are extremely appreciative of those who have donated as our expenses continue to grow. Choochi would be begging for pets from all of you as her form of thank you.

UPDATE 9/25/25

As of 6pm today, Chanel has been seizure free since 8am. Her doctor is feeling positive about her recovery and how she’s presenting. Unfortunately, the spinal tap has discovered that our girl has meningitis. Due to her breed, this is considered autoimmune. She anticipates having to take steroids to manage the inflammation in her brain. Otherwise, she is still fighting the pneumonia and anticipated another 2 weeks of antibiotics. Our girl is a fighter. She is progressing in the right direction. We are hopefully, if tonight goes well, God willing, expecting to bring her home tomorrow. We extend our deepest thank you’s to you all and your support and love and prayers that have been extended to Choochi. She will feel all the love once she is home. ❤️

UPDATE 9/26/25

Chanel is officially home! This will be a long road to recovery. She is requiring lots of attention to every need and we are more than willing to provide that to her. Our final costs in vet bills has hit $14k. Any donations are still greatly appreciated. Chanel sends her love to you all as she rests and recovers. ❤️
