My beautiful sister Cathy has battled aggressive cancer three times over the last 14 years. Each battle has involved extensive surgery and then either radiation, chemotherapy and hyperbaric treatment.
Each surgery has left Cath more physically debilitated.
Cathy's most recent cancer recurrence this year resulted in an extensive 15 hour surgery in September and three weeks in hospital.
This surgery has been by far the most debilitating, physically and emotionally. Cathy can no longer speak properly nor can she eat. She now has a permanent PEG and has to spend up to 5 hours each day being gravity fed through the PEG. She has to attend regular specialist appointments including ENTs, dieticians, speech therapists,plastic surgeons and GPs that are a long drive from the rural property where she lives with her husband and young teenage daughter.
Cathy can no longer work nor can her husband (who suffers from an extremely painful form of arthritis and has himself just endured a long surgery to fuse his neck).
Cathy needs our help.
Cathy faces a long and slow recovery from this latest cancer.
I would love to be able to support Cath financially through this traumatic period of her life, knowing that she doesn't have to worry about paying bills, servicing and repairing her 16+ year old car, or feeding the many dogs and farm animals she has rescued over the years.
Cathy has the most giving heart and would do anything for anyone.
