Hi everyone! My name is Brooke, I am Cash's owner. Cash is a 7 month old Pit Bull who has had quite the start to his life. I adopted cash when he was 8 weeks old from a man living out of a trailer on the side of the road. Cash needed a home and I knew his home was with me.
Last month, Cash was diagnosed with Immune Mediated Poly-Arthritis (IMPA). This is an autoimmune disorder that was caused by a reaction to his vaccines. His immune system went into overdrive and started attacking his joints, making everything swell up and causing him immense pain. Cash spent 5 days and 3 nights at 2 different emergency hospitals. During the middle of this, he was also diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia due to him vomiting from the pain he was in. He did not eat for 4 days and had a feeding tube placed. Cash had lots of imaging, lab tests, joint taps, and medication during his stay. After heavy pain medication and steroid treatment, he was able to come home and was expected to make a full recovery.
Cash has been doing incredible until this last week. His back left leg shattered as he was walking and he now has a pathological tibial fracture. The cause is unknown right now, he will be having a bone biopsy done later this week. The doctor is guessing that he has a fungal infection inside of his bone causing it to deteriorate, loose its strength and break just from him standing on it. We will discuss all options with his surgeon at his next appointment, but it is looking like this sweet boy will be loosing his leg.
Cash has had 4 hospital visits now, and will be having surgery as well, plus all of his check ups and aftercare. The cost from all this has piled up quickly. All of the funds raised will go towards paying off his medical bills, and anything left over will go towards his future care. I am more than grateful to anyone who is able to donate and help Cash get through this. Everyone feels this way about their own dog, but he truly is the best boy. He lights up any room he walks into and has the most unique personality. He is the best little brother to his kitty big sister, Miss Goose. I am incredibly thankful to be able to bring Cash to work with me everyday, and it has become his favorite thing to see and meet new people. He is so sweet, smart, gentle and the strongest dog I know and it breaks my heart that he has gone through all of this at such a young age. The vet staff have all admired how well he has handled everything and how sweet he has continued to be, even with the amount of pain he has been in. Even with a shattered leg, his tail was wagging non stop and he wanted to say hi to every person he saw.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read Cash's story. I will never be able to express how truly thankful and grateful I am for all of the support we have received. Cash has his appointment and possibly his surgery this week, I will give an update as soon as I can!
