Hi, my name is Bob Eberhardt. Last year, I took on the responsibility of running our Pack's Pinewood Derby race after our cubmaster had to step down. My older son has been a part of Pack 557 in Cary, IL going on 5 years now, and now my younger son has joined as well.

Pinewood Derby is a really great event, and it has become a big part of our lives even beyond scouts. It helps kids learn about physics, helps them gain experience with tools, strengthens bonds between the kids and their mentors, and helps teach good sportsmanship.

We have seen nearly a 3X increase in the number of racers from 2024 to 2025. Many more of our scouts are pushing the limits in terms of speed and design. I want to be able to run a great event and properly recognize all of their hard work! We had over 90% of the scouts participate last year, and we even had a decent amount of the adults and older kids participate in our open race. We would love to see that momentum continue.
