8/4: Update on Carolyn’s Recovery
We wanted to share an update on Carolyn’s journey over the past few weeks. After spending a significant amount of time in the ICU, she has now been transferred to a long-term care hospital. This is a big step forward in her recovery.
She is now breathing on her own without a ventilator, a major milestone, but continues to face daily challenges. Carolyn is bravely fighting off infections and fevers, and each day brings a new battle. Despite it all, she remains strong and continues to push forward.
She will stay in the long-term care facility until she is ready to begin intensive rehabilitation. We know this next chapter will require continued strength, resilience, and support.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the outpouring of kindness, prayers, and generosity over the past 5 weeks. Your support has meant everything to our family. Carolyn still has a long road ahead, and we know she’ll continue to fight, but she can’t do it alone. Every bit of help makes a difference.
With love,
The Nolen’s
7/22: Carolyn’s Story
On July 1st, Carolyn suffered a sudden and serious brain bleed. She has been in the ICU ever since, fighting every single day with strength and courage as she works her way back to us.
If you know Carolyn, you know she is one of the best. She lights up every room she walks into. She loves cooking, painting, DIY projects, shopping, and most of all—spending time with her family and grandchildren. She has an unmatched creative spirit, always finding ways to turn something simple into something fabulous. Whether it’s redecorating a room, repurposing old treasures, or making holiday gatherings extra special, Carolyn brings her unique spark to everything she touches.
This journey has been heartbreaking and overwhelming, but also filled with hope and moments of progress. While we don’t yet know what lies ahead, we do know that Carolyn faces a long road to recovery. Once she is stable enough to leave the ICU, she will need to transition to a long-term care hospital and then to intensive rehabilitation. These next phases will be critical—and costly.
We’re starting this GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden of medical expenses, long-term care, and rehabilitation services. Every dollar will go directly toward Carolyn’s care and recovery.
We also want her to know how deeply she is loved. The outpouring of support—visits, cards, meals, and prayers—has meant everything to our family. We can’t wait to tell her about all the love and kindness that’s surrounded her in these difficult weeks.
Please consider donating if you’re able, and sharing this campaign with others who know and love Carolyn. We are forever grateful.
With love and hope,
The Nolen Family
