Hello everyone, we are here for the very first time, as parents n grandparents asking family, friends n people that are willing to help our family. Our 10yr. Old granddaughter Calissa Martinez just had major spine surgery due to scoliosis on Tuesday May 13,2025. She's been at San Diego Rady's Children Hospital since then. Her parents were not able to get into the Ronald McDonald program due to it not being availability n construction at that point. They were living and working in Vegas Nevada prior to this surgery. My son snd daughter in law both were given a leave of absence from their jobs but without pay. The funds they have will be running out having to drive back and forth everyday from SD hospital to Hemet where my home is. Plus other expenses that as you know come along such as food, medical needs for recovery that insurance doesn’t cover. We have been told by Calissa's Drs and therapists the healing could take a while, and it's going to take both parents to work together to help her physically and emotionally while she heals from the surgery. by God's grace n mercy she was spared even thought Drs specialists had told us she wouldn't make it she was too young for the infection she had it had spread n affected more than 90% of her brain. That if by a miracle, she would live she'd be a vegetable. For three months she fought for her life as we watched and stood by her and her parents. God spared her life and did not become a vegetable, but there was consequences to the damage she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She can not speak normally , walk, or see normally. But she has a strong hearing and she recognizes family and friends. So with that said she's needed 24/7 year around nursing. 3 years ago her Drs said she needed a hip surgery and that was very painful & difficulty as far healing. Drs waited for her to be at least 10 years old for the spine surgery she also needed due to her spine curvature getting worse. But through all this Calissa has a good spirit and smile for everyone reassuring us. And this why we have decided to ask everyone for your help. For Calissa and her parents, having been there through it all; I know how stressful it can can get sometimes. Far from their home and no income from their employers. So here we are..asking if it's in your heart and are able to help them out while they find a job here in California in the meantime Calissa heals and goes to her many follow up Drs appointments n weekly physical therapy she will need. Who ever can and would like to help, anything is appreciated. God bless you all, even those that want to but can't thank you from the bottom of this grandmother and grandfather and of course Calissa's parents Rafael & Desiree Thank you God bless
