Dear friends,
My name is Kajsa and I'm a friend of Bryce's, writing to you on behalf of our beloved Bryce. As I write this Bryce is currently in the hospital recovering from what will be his third surgery in 2024 alone.
After breaking his dominant hand in late December of last year, Bryce underwent hand surgery in late January. Unfortunately, the healing time, high blood pressure complications post-surgery, and ongoing autoimmune issues prevented Bryce from working for 8 weeks. As many of you know, Bryce is an accomplished designer who creates beautiful clothes for dance, theater, and drag artists across the country.
Once his hand had healed, Bryce was able to return to work for a few weeks when he found out he had developed an infection in his leg. This led to an additional foot infection and ultimately invasive foot surgery on April 8th. (Upon waking up from surgery, Bryce did take this opportunity to quote the stepsisters from "Into the Woods" to the mostly confused nurses). The healing process for this procedure required Bryce to be hospitalized for two weeks followed by 4-6 weeks of bedrest while attached to a wound vacuum. To complicate things further, or as Bryce says "to make it an even more unbelievable story", his healing foot is his one working foot, as the other foot is in a brace after his spinal injury in 2020 and cannot take on the balance and weight of both feet.
In the third week of his bedrest (earlier this week) Bryce was readmitted to the ER for a complication with the wound and scheduled for another surgery. All in all, he has only been able to work 3-4 weeks since January and has been forced to cancel/postpone many projects and contracts requiring travel. As a freelance artist, this has made Bryce's financial situation incredibly tight and has required him to use up savings on the day-to-day cost of living thus far.
Looking forward at another month of being unable to work, Bryce needs our help to catch up on expenses and cover upcoming bills during his healing process. $15,000 will cover the 10k of back rent due and 5k for approaching costs.
Despite the barrage of difficulties, Bryce remains his resilient self (he did get the opportunity to cut and dye his hair before this latest surgery, so you know he's the most stylish patient in that hospital). Please consider donating to help Bryce out and or share this campaign with others who might like to offer support at this time.
One of the many things I love about Bryce is his ability to cultivate community with everyone he interacts with and this is a vital opportunity for that community to show up for him. Thanks in advance for your love and generosity.
