Dear Friends and Community,

I’m reaching out to share the story of an incredible woman who has devoted her life to caring for others—our beloved caregiver, Brooke Kirby. For years, Brooke has worked tirelessly in both the West Bloomfield school district and recently the Walled Lake Schools’ adult transition center, making a profound difference in the lives of special needs children. She is dedicated and creative and she always goes above and beyond - putting her heart and soul into her work and treating every child as if they were her own.

Unfortunately, Brooke's journey has taken a challenging turn. Her cancer has returned, and she is currently undergoing chemotherapy. As the primary breadwinner for her family, this diagnosis has put an immense strain on them both emotionally and financially. While most of her medical expenses will be covered, her disability benefits are significantly reduced, leaving her family in a tough spot. With the recent purchase of their new home, they are facing the daunting reality of mortgage payments and daily living expenses without her steady income both from school and her home caregiving job with our daughter Lila.

Brooke's passion for helping others extends beyond her job; she is also a loving grandmother who cherishes every moment spent with her two grandbabies. Her dream is to recover and create more memories with them. However, this goal is becoming increasingly difficult as the financial burdens pile up.
