Help Support Brenda Ford’s Cancer Fight
Spende geschützt
Hey, I’m Brenda’s daughter, Kim. My siblings and I decided to start this GoFundMe to help alleviate medical costs, etc. associated with my Mom’s cancer.
The day before Thanksgiving, 2024, Brenda was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, or Bile Duct Cancer. It’s a rare, and very aggressive, form of cancer. Dec 18th she had surgery to remove 70% of her liver and lymph nodes. She was such a trooper during recovery, which was incredibly difficult. Mom was officially diagnosed as Stage 3 at that point, but Dr’s felt good about her odds. There was no sign of cancer at that time.
Mom started Chemo (aka .. her poison) and we all felt hopeful.
A few weeks ago we got the devastating news that Mom’s cancer is back and has already metastasized. She is now Stage 4 and considered “terminal”. Her doctors have given her 6-12 months, if she continues with chemo.
To say this has been difficult is an understatement. Mom just turned 63 last week and the thought of life without her here with us is impossible to even imagine.
Throughout her cancer diagnosis, surgery, challenging recovery, chemo, brutal side effects, and now another devastating diagnosis, Mom has stayed so positive. She chooses to joke and laugh and try to find the bright side.
There’s a bright side to being terminally ill, you ask?! As Mom has pointed out; she will never have to get another mammogram or colonoscopy again! Mom is constantly cracking jokes about her situation and her impending death. She chooses to laugh so she doesn’t cry all the time. I know she’s had her moments of despair and heartbreak … she’s fought so hard and was determined to beat this. We are all so incredibly proud of her and how hard she’s fought to stay here with her family that she loves so much.
Cancer comes with so many medical bills and expenses! If you’re willing and able, we’d be so grateful for any monetary donation you’re able to give to help alleviate the financial stress medical bills and cancer have brought.
Mom also has a very long bucket list of things she wants to do before she dies. If there are any donations left after medical expenses are covered, we’d love to be able to check off a few of those bucket-list items for Mom. We’re checking off her #1 in just over a week; stay tuned for that update!
If you know my Mom, you know that she would literally give you the shirt off her back. She has always been so giving and has sacrificed so much to provide for her family and make their life special. We would love to be able to return that gift to her by helping relieve her financial stress due to her cancer fight.
If you’re still reading this, thank you so much!
Please hug your loved ones tight and enjoy every single moment you have with them.
