Hi everyone, whether you know us personally or are just now learning about our story, thank you for being here.

Our son Brayden is 12 years old and was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a severe congenital heart defect. He’s already been through three open-heart surgeries, many hospital stays, and more than his fair share of doctor’s appointments.

Earlier this year, in April, Brayden experienced a life-threatening complication indicating a failing Fontan (3rd surgery). He was diagnosed with Plastic Bronchitis, placed on ECMO, and underwent multiple bronchoscopies. It was one of the scariest moment of our lives and we came dangerously close to losing him. But by the grace of God, Brayden fought through.

During that hospitalization, we were told Brayden’s heart was failing and was officially listed for a heart transplant, initially as Status 1B. This allowed him to return home and wait however, we were warned this wait at home might not last forever, and now, that moment has come.

Due to the complications Brayden is facing such as Ventricular Tachycardia and a failing Fontan, Brayden will be reclassified as Status 1A. Which means he must now be hospitalized while he waits for a new heart. This is where our story turns a corner and where we humbly ask for your support.

Creating this GoFundMe wasn’t easy. Asking for help is something we have wrestled with deeply.

Brayden may be in the hospital for 6–9 months or longer, and while this progresses the world keeps turning. To include preparing for life after recovery.

This reality has made it even harder to prepare for the months ahead and it’s why we’ve turned to our community now.
