Hi, my name is Laurelle, and I am raising funds for my brother-in-law, Brandon, and his family during an incredibly difficult and uncertain time.
Brandon was born with a genetic mutation that caused Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP) - a serious condition that leads to hundreds to thousands of precancerous polyps developing in the colon and rectum. Without treatment, FAP almost always progresses to cancer by the age of 40.
At 16 years old, Brandon underwent an emergency colectomy after his FAP was discovered. Since then, he has lived with ongoing medical monitoring and procedures to prevent cancer.
Now at age 36, Brandon underwent a highly complex and preventative surgery in London - a Whipple procedure - intended to reduce his cancer risk. During the initial operation, surgeons encountered a major bleed and were forced to stop the procedure. Brandon required multiple units of blood. The surgery was completed a day and a half later, but since then he has faced significant complications.
He has experienced three additional major bleeds and has been taken into the operating room a total of five times.
Brandon has now been sedated in the ICU since February 3rd and has undergone a tracheostomy as part of his ongoing care. His recovery remains uncertain, and doctors cannot yet provide a clear timeline, however, we continue to trust in God's provision and sustaining hand to bring Brandon through.
During this prolonged hospitalization, both Brandon and his wife, Kaitlyn, have been unable to work. They had hoped to return home to Goulais River after four weeks, but the length of Brandon’s hospitalization is extending far beyond that.
Brandon and Kaitlyn are the loving parents of four young children, who are currently being cared for by family members at home. While Employment Insurance provides some temporary support, it does not cover their full financial needs - especially with the added costs of Kaitlyn remaining in London to be close to Brandon.
Brandon is a volunteer firefighter and received the First Responder of the Year award for both 2024 and 2025 with the Goulais River Fire Department. He has responded without a second thought to many in crisis and now he needs our help!
Through every moment of this trial, God has sustained Brandon and his family. They are deeply grateful for the countless prayers and support they have already received. If you are able, any contribution - no matter the size - will help ease the financial burden during this critical time.
Most importantly, we ask that you continue to lift Brandon up in prayer for strength, healing, and peace for his entire family.
Thank you for your love, support, and generosity.
