Help Rebuild Bird Rails Model Collection After Palisades Fire
On January 7th and 8th, a fire swept through the Palisades area of Los Angeles, destroying homes and displacing families. Among those affected was my dear friend Alex Bird, a member of the model railroading community who lost his home, his belongings, and his entire model collection in the fire.
Alex is the creator of Bird’s Model Train Server on discord which has hundreds of members and has brought many people in the model train community together. He has been a source of kindness, support, and joy for so many people over the years, creating countless memories and helping others. Now, it’s our turn to help him.
One of Alex’s greatest passions was his extensive model train collection, a labor of true passion that brought happiness not only to him but to many in the community. The size of his collection was so large that it is difficult to estimate its total value. The goals set for this fundraiser won’t be able replace the collection, but we hope it will help scratch the surface.
Bird’s reaction to this calamity was to provide a public service announcement to the community reminding them to insure collections as large as his, demonstrating his altruism and care for the wellbeing of the community he developed.
The loss Alex has suffered is immeasurable, and every contribution—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference in helping him get back on his feet. If we exceed the fundraising goal, all additional funds will go directly to Alex to help him rebuild his life.
Your generosity and support mean the world. Thank you for coming together to help someone who has given so much to others.
