Help Support Billy Landolfi's Recovery & Rehab

On Thursday, May 28th in the middle of the night, Billy Landolfi was sleepwalking and took a fall. After abruptly coming to, he realized he could not move his neck and began feeling tingling down his right arm. He was rushed by ambulance to the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, MA. It was confirmed that he had fractured two vertebrae in his neck and needed emergency surgery for a cervical fusion. Unfortunately, after this surgery he had loss all mobility on his right side and had extreme weakness on his left side. With additional imaging after surgery, it was determined that he developed internal bleeding and a blood clot, which resulted in a second surgery.
Since then, he has been released from the hospital and was sent to The Guardian Center facility for rehabilitation. His progress is minimal, and we fear it may take years to regain normal function again. At this time he still cannot get out of bed on his own or walk. He can sit up in a chair and stand upright holding onto a walker with assistance only. His arms and hands are still very weak, he has numbness in his hands and he’s hardly strong enough to feed himself, and struggles with simple tasks.
This injury has taken a toll on him mentally. Unfortunately, Billy has had stages of depression in his life, and speaking for the family we don’t want this situation to discourage his hopes of normalcy in the future when he comes home. We want him to know that the comeback is always greater than the setback. This is a life altering issue that we feel he can overcome with support of family and friends.
Billy is a patriotic man who served his country in the Navy. He engulfed himself into the outdoors, where he would spend most of his time gardening, fishing, hiking, or even just the basic yard work - he loved it all. He is a classic car enthusiast, loves to play cards with his family and friends, huge Boston sports fan, DJ'ed many events over the years, frequently goes to the gym and was very physically fit. Billy is a connoisseur of all things fun loving and enjoyed making anyone around him laugh and smile no matter what else was going on in the this crazy world.
For when he does eventually come home, he will need many modifications done prior to his return. He will need first and most importantly a Home Health Aid and a Visiting Nurse to assist in his day to day life, as well as a handicap accessible shower and toilet, ramps for his steps throughout the rooms in his home, and various other adjustments. He lives alone, and his insurance policy won’t cover all of these expenses, which will be very costly. We’re here to show support for Bill as we try to help in any way we can. We pray the outcome will lead to Bill sitting home in his backyard once again with his dog Bella, enjoying his best life.
Please help Billy with whatever you can donate to help him financially move forward with his life. This would mean so much to him to not have to worry about a financial burden when he returns home. If you cannot help donate, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers and share with your family and friends. Thank you all.
