Help Support Bill's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
On January 17, at just 45 years old, Bill Graham – beloved father, husband, son and brother – suffered a massive hemorrhagic stroke. Despite facing a long and challenging road to recovery, his prognosis was positive, but that was cut short when during those first days in the hospital he suffered some complications including internal bleeding and a cardiac arrest. Those complications caused further anoxic brain injury and have left him in a minimally conscious state with a tracheostomy and feeding tube since.
Bill's wife Vicki, and their two children, Ben and Abby are doing their best to cope during this incredibly difficult time, but as you can imagine, they now have a very uncertain path ahead. Ben had just started his first year of college when this happened, and Abby is finishing her senior year of high school. The family is now facing enormous challenges, including financial strain, the stress of Vicki becoming a single working mother overnight, and the psychological impacts of what they've been through and what lies ahead. Bill's prognosis now is guarded and unknown and the journey he and his family are on is going to continue to be a fraught one.
Bill's medical bills have become overwhelming as his care needs are substantial. Despite having insurance coverage, the family is already facing insurance maximums and high out of pocket expenses. Disability payments, even when they do arrive, will be insufficient, and they will need help paying for every aspect of Bill's care and the family's expenses given the loss of his income too.
Bill is going to need some form of care for the rest of his life, and it's possible he'll be in a rehab facility for many months if not years. He's currently preparing to be moved from the hospital to a specialty care facility that can handle his many needs with the hope of him eventually waking up, which is currently his best hope, but a very expensive one.
This GoFundMe campaign is being set up to help Bill and his family cover the costs of his ongoing medical care and expenses. Our goal is to raise at least $100,000 to help them through this challenging time, because they need to buy Bill time, and that time is going to come at great monetary expense.
Every little bit helps, and any amount you can donate will go a long way in supporting Bill and his family. Please help us spread the word by sharing this campaign with your friends and family.
A thousand thanks for your support and kindness.
