Hi, my name is Yvette, and I’m raising funds on behalf of my sister Lorena and her husband, Benji Rivera.

On July 27th, Benji was hit by a car while riding bikes with his step son, near Welby and Devonshire in Thornton, Colorado. What makes this even more devastating is that it appears the driver intentionally struck him. Benji and my nephew were riding along the side of the road when the driver accelerated into Benji and kept going. This was a hit-and-run, and the driver has not yet been identified.

Benji is alive, and we are so grateful—but his injuries are severe. He has broke his c7 cervial vertebrae in his neck, causing him to be immobile for at least 8 weeks, multiple fractures in his neck and spine, a torn ligament in his right leg, brain swelling, and both internal and external bruising. He faces a long and painful road to recovery.

Benji is the primary provider for his wife and children. He did not have medical insurance at the time of the accident and will not be able to work for several months. The medical bills, therapy costs, and everyday living expenses are already mounting.

We are asking for any support you can offer to help cover medical expenses, physical therapy, and daily living costs for Benji and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Every dollar helps ease the burden and allows them to focus on healing, not financial stress.

Additionally, we are asking anyone who may have witnessed the hit-and-run or who has any information about the driver to please come forward. This was a deliberate act, and we are hoping for justice and accountability.
