Ben Scott- Kicking Cancer

My name is Katreena and I am raising funds for my good friend Ben and his wife Becky Scott.

On April 19th Ben was diagnosed with Covid-19 and an extremely high blood pressure (222/115). Further testing with primary doctors showed that Ben needed to be brought into the hospital for evaluation and further testing. This lead to a month long hospital stay alone, no work, and multiple blood tests, scans, and biopsies. Tests confirmed Ben was in renal failure, had a rare blood disease called kappa light chain deposition disease, as well as multiple myeloma cancer.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for multiple myeloma. However advances in therapy such as t cell transplant and chemotherapy will help manage associated complications and extend life significantly.

As of today Ben is receiving dialysis 3 times a week, as well as chemo and 11 different medications. Doctors in Boston are looking at multiple weeklong stays in Boston for treatment and transplants of his own T cells once he is strong enough.

Ben's diagnosis has left him unable to work and his wife doing limited time because she is his primary care giver. Bank and vacation funds are limited and running out and insurance premiums are high.SSI has been applied for but can take many months to hear a decision. Ben is about to embark on a long journey medically, emotionally, and financially and he needs our help.
