Help Support Baby McKenzie’s Heart Journey

Hello everyone,

We’re reaching out with this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend Kayleigh, her husband Dale, and their little boy Hudson, as they prepare to welcome a new baby into the world — a baby who’s already proven to be incredibly strong.

This page is being created with love and support from both myself, Alyssa and Kayleigh’s mum, Jeany, who is standing by her daughter every step of the way.

At a routine ultrasound, Kayleigh and Dale received heartbreaking news: their unborn son has a rare congenital heart condition called Congenitally Corrected Transposition of the Great Arteries (CC-TGA).

While the diagnosis is serious, they were relieved to learn that this specific form of TGA means their baby won’t need immediate surgery after birth. Instead, he’ll be closely monitored and will likely need procedures down the line — including a pacemaker and possibly a heart transplant in the future. The most important thing right now is that he gets to come home after birth and live a full, joyful life surrounded by love.

To make that happen, Kayleigh will need to relocate to Victoria, BC (possibly Vancouver) 36 weeks of pregnancy for specialized care and delivery — May 16th is their confirmed date to relocate. She’ll be going on medical leave — but Dale won’t qualify for any financial assistance until after the baby is born, even though he’ll need to be with her the entire time. This means lost income and rising expenses during one of the most critical periods of their lives.

While Kayleigh and Dale have secured care for their son Hudson and their dog Daisy thanks to Jeannie, being away for weeks and preparing for the baby’s care journey ahead is an overwhelming financial and emotional load.

Kayleigh and Dale would never ask for this help themselves, so we’re doing it for them — to lift some of the burden off their shoulders so they can focus on what matters most: staying strong for their baby, their family, and each other.
