On November 1st, 2024, Kimberly and Todd Wicker welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Levi, into the world. Born prematurely at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Levi’s entrance into the world was far from what his parents had hoped for. Just four days after his birth, Levi underwent a life-saving open heart surgery to address his rare condition, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), a congenital heart defect that affects the left side of his heart. Despite the odds, Levi proved to be a fighter, and the surgery was a success—his recovery began, though the road ahead remained uncertain.
However, Levi’s journey was just beginning. On Thursday, November 14th, a new challenge arose. Levi began swelling, and doctors quickly suspected an infection. What they discovered next was devastating: part of his colon had died due to lack of oxygen, causing bile to leak into his abdomen. Without hesitation, Levi was rushed into another emergency surgery on the morning of Saturday, November 16th, where a third of his colon was removed.
Now, at just a few weeks old, Levi faces an even longer road to recovery. He will need additional surgeries in the future, including one at 3 to 5 months of age and another when he’s around 5 years old. Through it all, baby Levi has shown amazing resilience, but his journey is far from over.
Kimberly and Todd have been by Levi’s side every step of the way, but the weight of medical bills, ongoing treatments, and the stress of caring for Levi during this difficult time is immense. That’s where we need your help.
We are asking for your support to help ease the financial burden on Kimberly and Todd, so they can focus on what matters most—Levi’s health and healing. The funds raised will go directly to helping cover medical bills, hospital expenses, and the ongoing care Levi will need during his recovery and future surgeries. Your donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in this family’s life, helping to ensure that they can focus on Levi’s fight without the additional weight of financial stress.
Levi’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable, and he’s showing us all just how strong he is. Please consider donating, sharing this story, and sending your thoughts and prayers to Levi and his family during this incredibly challenging time.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for supporting Levi’s fight. Your kindness and generosity will have a profound impact on this family, helping make an unimaginable situation just a little more bearable.
With love and gratitude,
Katherine Forbes (on behalf of Kimberly and Todd Wicker)
