On January 30th, 2019, my cousin Kayla and her husband, Eric, welcomed their little boy, Jaxson Leo Henderson. He was born two weeks early via an emergency c-section due to complications with his birth. Baby Jaxson was born 4 lbs. 11 oz. and 19 in. long. Shortly after his birth, he was rushed to Radys Children’s Hospital due to his low birth weight and inability to regulate his blood sugar. After weeks of testing, he was diagnosed with Congenital Hyperinsulism, however despite receiving treatment, doctors discovered new medical concerns relating to inflammation of his liver and complications with his intestines. Jaxson will undergo surgery this week, however the path forward is still unclear.

Kayla, who was still recovering from her c-section, and Eric, followed their son to San Diego and have not left his side since he was born. His father, Eric, will have to return back to work this week after exhausting State Paid Family Leave and Kayla has quit her jobs in order to remain with Jaxson in San Diego. Our family is starting this campaign on behalf of my cousin and her family, in hopes of assisting them financially to get through this very difficult time and allow them to focus on their sweet baby boy.
