Eli Hunsaker made his appearance on March 9th at 1:12 A.M. He was born at 34 weeks gestation to Alex and Brooke (Neeley) Hunsaker from Moweaqua IL . They were informed that at this age he would need oxygen assistance and that is not uncommon. They were also informed that his suck, swallow and breathing reflexes were not developed at this age, which they were expecting. However when baby Eli was only 7 hours old he was airlifted from Decatur, IL to St. John's hospital in Springfield, IL, due to high ammonia levels. Less than 24 hours after arriving at St. John's he was airlifted once again. Eli was airlifted to Barnes-Jewish Hospital located in St. Louis Missouri, where he remains. At this time it is unclear what is wrong with Eli. The doctors have been running several test to rule out infections and any other reasons that would explain why sweet baby Eli is having problems. He is currently on antibiotics and will be for at least another week. Eli's ammonia levels remain high and his blood pressure is unstable at this time. Eli underwent surgery on March 12th to start dialysis due to ammonia levels of 361. Eli's parents, Alex and Brooke have now been informed that baby Eli has blood on his brain and unfortunately the cause is unknown. The doctors stopped all sedatives on March 11th so he should be at least moving his arms and legs. Alex and Brooke will be staying in St. Louis with baby Eli. Any help would be greatly appreciated during this time. We could also use all your prayers! Brooke does have a paypal address if anyone would like to donate using paypal
