Help Support Avi Through Ovarian Cancer

Dearest Friends,
With heaviness of heart, I am writing this letter on behalf of Avi Taylor Silverman.
If you’ve been graced by her spirit– then like me, you also regard her as one of the most gentle, considerate, and kind-hearted people you know. I literally cannot imagine a world without her.
In May of this year, Avi was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Thus far she has chosen to remain relatively private about her circumstances, but the conditions around her health have unfortunately only become all the more serious.
In this broken system, we call American “Healthcare”, Avi’s survival rests on her ability to pay for treatment. The burden of these insurmountable costs is the reason that we are reaching beyond to ask for the generosity and support of others who have been blessed by knowing her.
Her Health:
Several months ago Avi was rushed to the ER due to unbearable stomach pain. Surgery was necessary to remove a grapefruit-sized tumor that had grown on one of her ovaries. It turned out to be malignant– the more dangerous and less predictable form of cancerous growth. We were all in shock. If you know Avi, you know that she is young, highly capable, and lives an incredibly conscientious and healthy lifestyle. The doctors asked that she be watched closely and warned of the relative speed and aggressiveness associated with her new diagnosis.
Despite surgery, more recent scans have shown that cancer has returned and that several tumors have developed in the same area. Thus emergency chemotherapy began in mid-October. Avi’s treatment will be 4 months long and will require intensive monitoring and time spent at the hospital. The experience has already been grueling, expensive, and a drain on her overall health. Sadly it is the last available option in fighting this cancer off.
Support/Coverage:
It has been a very difficult past two years for most people we know. We do ask, however, that if you’re in a position to give anything to kindly consider how you might provide support. In this time of need, Avi is unable to work and continue life-as-usual with any semblance of usual independence. All contributions gathered during this time will directly cover the following costs:
⇾ Initial surgery (the removal of her first tumor)
⇾ Consultation with Oncologists specializing in Women’s Health
⇾ All necessary scans, bloodwork, and testing
⇾ Chemotherapy
⇾ Home care services
As well as…
⇾ Lost wages due to being unable to work after her initial surgery and for the duration of her chemotherapy
⇾ Other living expenses such as food, rent, and transportation costs
Avi is a humble, soft-spoken, and loving individual. She spends most of her time gardening, cooking, and caring for her two labs Theo & June. She loves hiking, foraging, and being in the ocean. Every interior environment she graces, Avi makes even more beautiful. The physical cost of this cancer is a reality wherein she is bedridden and rendered unable to do the things that she enjoys most.
In this time of need, let’s come together to provide support for someone we love so that we can, together, bring her safely to the other side of this frightening time. If you’re unable to make a financial contribution during this time but would like to know how you might help please reach out to the contact below– all help is appreciated. We continue to remain both hopeful and optimistic on her behalf and thank you deeply for the ways we know her loved ones will show up at this time.
Sincerely,
Her Friends & Family
