Hi, My name is Michelle, I am Averie’s Mom. My 4 year old daughter Averie lights up any room she enters with her kind , loving and free-spirited personality. She is such a strong little girl and it saddens us to think of all she has been through already at only 4 years old. After months of doctor visits, diagnostic testing/imaging and 1 surgery already. Averie has been diagnosed with two health conditions both in which will require Two Major Surgeries, regular specialist visits, & medication interventions. Averie has Coronary Artery disease-( An Anomalous coronary artery)This is a rare congenital abnormality & due to the artery coursing between the aorta and pulmonary artery she is at risk of SCD (sudden cardiac death). The only fix to this disease will result in Heart surgery to move the artery to the correct spot, reduce the risk of the artery fully blocking aorta and restore normal blood flow. Shortly after receiving this news, Averie was hospitalized for severe pain and after many tests, she in addition has been diagnosed with a Neurological Disorder called Trigeminal Neuralgia-and is a type of chronic pain disorder that involves sudden, severe facial pain.Her MRI confirmed that the Artery in her Brain is compressing on her Facial Nerve. The fix to this condition will also result in Nuero Surgery to create space between the two as well as medical management.We are heartbroken over the news , especially knowing the road she has ahead of her as well as what she has already been through (surgery to relieve sleep apnea, sleep studies, CT’S,bloodwork,MRI’s, Neuro/Cardiologist, in and out of hospitals) but she has been so brave and we are so proud of her & what she has already overcame.
