This fundraiser was created on behalf of Autumn and her baby girl Meta, to help them recover from a medical emergency. 

On February 1, 2021 Autumn gave birth to a bonnie baby girl.  What should have been a joyous occasion suddenly became very complicated. Autumn got an infection and then Meta developed sepsis. Both were hospitalized and at one point Meta was on a respirator to help her breathe. After 3 long weeks Meta was finally allowed to go home for the first time. Their happiness at beginning a new life together as a family was cut brutally short when just a couple of days later Meta began having seizures. She was rushed back to the hospital and an MRI found a clot on her brain. This was devastating news, and to make matters worse Autumn was not able to hold or nurse her new baby. After more tests it was discovered that Meta has a genetic disorder called Dutch Factor 5 Leide, basically she is at high risk of developing blood-clots that can be life-threatening.  

All this has all been so much on this tiny new human and this new mama. The good news is Meta is a little champ and she is responding well to treatment. She is still in the hospital, but at least now Autumn can hold her. We are all hoping she will make a full recovery and there will be no lasting damage. 

My hope for this fundraiser is to make enough to cover 2 or 3 months of living expenses for this new family so Autumn can focus on Meta's recovery and not have to stress about getting back to work to pay the bills. Autumn did not do all the usual stuff that mothers-to-be do; there was no baby shower or registry. Friends and family have asked what they can do, but Autumn felt uncomfortable even creating a baby registry! It is never easy asking for help, so I'm doing this for her.
