Help support Atticus Maldonado
Donation protected
Atticus Maldonado is a 15-year-old teenager, friend, big brother, grandson and son. Atticus is the type of person that is full of positivity, and optimism and someone who can light up a room with his contagious smile and joy. He dedicates himself to his studies, always striving to be a diligent student. He stays involved in activities and sports and also has a heart devoted to stewardship. Atticus has served his parish community of St. Gertrude the Great Church, in Bell Gardens California all of his life.
He first began his journey in our community when he advocated being baptized as a catechumen. He started serving as an altar server and choir member. Later, by 10 years of age, he became a student at St. Gertrude the Great Elementary, where he joined the student council and moved up to Altar Server Coordinator. He recruited and trained classmates to serve in school mass. Atticus also joined the yearbook committee, eventually graduating from St. Gertrude the Great and now attends St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy where he plays baseball. This young man has served his school and church community so devotedly and happily, and he is a great example of a wonderful Christian for many of us.
Just a week ago, Atticus and his family found out he had developed rare cancer, but instead of being sad or defeated, Atticus remained graceful and positive. Once more, serving as an example of someone who is joyous even through difficult moments. We have started this GoFundMe for Atticus, to help his family financially through this journey they are on. Despite everything, the Maldonado family is facing, they continue to serve the parish that Atticus himself so dedicatedly has served. That said, Atticus wants to come back to serve as an Altar server and resume his position as Cross Carrier, soon. Atticus and his family are together enduring a long and difficult road, and we hope that you can find it in your hearts to help this family and support them with any donation. This money will be used for hospital and medical expenses. We ask that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers, as they now bear a heavy cross. But with hopeful and joyful hearts, just like Atticus, they will journey with the support of their parish family and community. We thank you for your kind generosity and pray for you too!
