Help support Aryas recovery

On Wednesday May 2, around 9pm, our Great Dane, Arya was hit by a car. I will start out by saying that as pet owners, we failed to protect our dog. We have an invisible fence that we have not installed for one reason or another, I try to watch them when they are outside but get distracted but honestly I thought this could never happen to us.  Last night the dogs were in the yard when I went inside to answer my phone. I believe that they saw an animal and were chasing it and ended up in the road.
When I called for her and she didn't come home, I went looking and found her laying in the road at the end of our driveway. When I approached, I thought she was already dead but she raised her head and looked at me. I sat in the road holding her head until my brother in law came and helped me get her into the car. Arya was bleeding in several places and was having trouble breathing. I took her to Colonial Pet Hospital in Lansing and their wonderful staff carried her in on a stretcher and went to work immediately to help illevieate the pain and asses any life threatening injuries. She had a pnemothorax, which is air in her chest, outside of her lungs, and they drew off about 2.5 liters which helped ease her breathing. She had multiple wounds on her body that need to be cleaned and possibly a fracture in one leg. The vet said that she took the brunt of the hit to her chest and she has badly bruised ribs and lungs. She has some fluid around her heart and in her lungs that are not life threatening at this point but will need to be closely observed as these things can get worse over time. Right now she has no signs of head trauma and has a good chance of recovery. The original estimate for her treatment is about $8,000 and depending on the treatment needs, could go up from there.
I am struggling with the idea of asking for financial assistance from our friends and family, but getting her treatment and helping her in any way we can is not optional, we will do what we have to do. It will be a large financial burdon....so I am swallowing my pride and asking for any assistance that you may be able to give.

UPDATE***visited with Arya this afternoon, she is stable but does require surgery to repair her leg. Thank you all for your support!!
