Hi, my name is Brianna and I am fundraising on behalf of my dad, James Reid, my stepmom, Katie, and my little brother, Ares & my sisters Carley & Chloe.
For over two years, Ares has bravely battled cancer. This past October, we received the news we prayed for — his scans showed no signs of cancer. We are beyond grateful for that blessing. ❤️
But years of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation have taken a devastating toll on his little body. Ares is now in kidney failure and is currently unable to be placed on the donor list. For now, his only option is dialysis twice a week in Kansas City, hours away from home.
Until recently, my dad was driving a company truck to get Ares to his appointments — meaning he couldn’t work during that time. Thankfully, an incredible company, Global Auto, generously gifted a vehicle to help them travel for his treatments.
Ares has been hospitalized in Kansas City for the past week, and doctors are hopeful he’ll be able to go home soon. When that happens, my dad will finally get to return to work. But the financial burden is already overwhelming.
Right before Ares’ diagnosis, my dad and stepmom purchased a home for their growing family. As life turned upside down, bills piled up. They are now months behind on their mortgage and doing everything in their power to keep their home while caring for Ares and my siblings.
They have been blessed by Wichita’s Little Heroes for Christmas, and we are so grateful — but I’m hoping to take just one more piece of stress off their shoulders by helping catch up their mortgage and give them some breathing room during this incredibly difficult time.
If you are able to donate, every dollar truly makes a difference. And if you are unable to give, please consider sharing this fundraiser to help us reach others.
My dad has always been the first to show up and help anyone in need — I would love to return that kindness for him, Katie, Ares, Carley & Chloe as they continue this fight.
Thank you for caring, for praying, and for being part of Ares’ journey.
