Help support Angel through maintenance chemo

Donation protected
Hey Everyone!

I’m Mia - one of Angel’s best friends. The past year I’ve witnessed Angel’s life change completely. Angel has been living off the generosity of community and is incredibly reluctant to ask for support for their cancer treatment. However, currently their treatment situation is unsustainable and they are running out of options.

Angel is now a couple of months into maintenance chemo which is ideally going to be occurring for potentially up to two years. They’re in Peter Mac 2+ days a week for consults and IV Chemo Infusions. They are also on weekly oral chemo that has been causing bouts of neutropenia - which can make common illnesses life threatening. Finding a job with these inconsistent unavailable days due to treatment and chronic pain from bilateral AVN (death of hip bone tissue) has proven immensely difficult. Additionally they are still experiencing chronic fatigue and other side effects from the current and past chemotherapy.

There are no government supports they are eligible for due to being classed as defacto with their partner Max. Moving back in with family is not an option and Angel’s mum is working multiple jobs to try and help but this is also not sustainable.

The maintenance chemo Angel is on is being done in an attempt to eradicate chances of the cancer coming back. Although no trials have been done due to the rarity of Ewing’s Sarcoma; theoretically this may prove life changing if it can keep the cancer at bay. If Angel’s sarcoma reoccurs this will have devastating impact with 5-year survival rates for reoccurring Ewing’s around 20%.

Angel is currently debating stopping their maintenance chemo as they can no longer afford to pay their rent, bills and other living expenses. They have been working with their social workers and team at Peter Mac but there is nothing to help their situation.

If maintenance chemo is the thing that prevents Angel from having to go through this past year again it’ll be so so worth taking a chance on it.
These are hard times but if anyone has anything to give that would be incredible to help take the pressure off of Angel, Max and Shanaaz.
