Help Support Andrew Heal From a Traumatic Brain Injury

Hello everyone. My name is Lauren, and on behalf of Andrew, his wife Ashley, and their four children, I am reaching out in hopes that all of us can come together to help them through this time of need.

On the evening of Tuesday, May 14th, while Andrew was working alone, for no explained reason to date, he suffered a severe head injury. He was rushed to the hospital where a CT scan showed a bleed in the back of his brain and a hematoma on his scalp. He was then rushed to a Neurotrauma ICU to see if he needed surgery and to undergo many tests. He has complete amnesia of the event.

Over a week later, Andrew continues to experience debilitating symptoms including extremely painful headaches, vertigo, dizziness and sensitivity to sound. He is currently only able to walk with the aid of a walker for very short periods of time before his symptoms flare up significantly and he becomes exhausted. While in the hospital they have been investigating why this could have happened, monitoring the bleed in his brain, and managing his symptoms with strong IV medication. After many tests, all serious medical reasons have been ruled out as a cause that might have lead to the incident.

Healing from a traumatic brain injury is a complicated process that is not linear and has no set timeline. As the sole income provider for his family this is not an easy place to be. We all know Andrew as the guy who does whatever it takes to push through anything to get the job done, but in the case of a brain injury, taking that approach will actually prolong the healing process. He simply needs time. Time where he is unable to provide for his family and where Ashley needs to care for him and their children.

The family has medical coverage for Andrew's hospital stay, but his healing journey will include a lot of therapies, specialist appointments and medications, all of which will have to be paid out of pocket. Additionally, until Andrew is able to return to work they will have no income coming in to pay for their basic needs.
