I have to begin by thanking you again for your support, prayers, and encouragement to the Mathews. Becky was diagnosed with a form of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and has to undergo chemotherapy for the nest 18 weeks
when continued treatment will then be determined. As a wife, city commissionaire, Parent Mentor at BECEP Early Intervention and mother of five, this news was incredibly unexpected and life changing. Becky has luckily been able to take a leave of absence from her job at BECEP. The Mathews’ children are current and graduate players of our club.
As a member of Magic Soccer FC, you have experienced firsthand the family feeling of our club and our soccer community. Even through significant growth of the past years, our club has retained our warmth, our mission, our vision, and the sincere connection among its members. Our Magic families don’t only come to support their kids at soccer events, they do life together and contribute time and effort to our club’s foundation.
Becky Matthews has embraced this culture around our club since the early days of the club. The Matthews have donated their time and resources to serve many families. They are compassionate about giving and serving others.
I am asking for our club to stand together to support and honor Becky Mathews through this difficult time. We are dedicating $3000 of our club revenue to help the Matthews cover medical or possible upcoming travel expenses. Considering the past support and generosity of our members, we are writing today, therefore, to ask for a special show of commitment to help match our gift to the family. We would also like to emphasize that the family is only asking for strength and prayer.
