Hello Book Lovers!

If you don't know about Books Around the Corner here's a little history. We're an online independent bookstore, woman and disability-owned, that opened our doors in 2018. We can't believe we are about to celebrate our fifth anniversary this fall. We've had many challenges and changes. Our most recent is that we are now fully online and ship nationwide and are in the process of moving to Forks, Washington.

Who am I? My name is Stephanie Rose and I've been the owner and founder of Books Around the Corner and this READ IT! Program. Due to developing severe disabilities over the past few years I, with the help of my dedicated customers, have pivoted and kept Books Around the Corner alive in a new way. I have learned that just because you have a disability doesn't mean you can't follow your dream and I will continue to do so every day I can.

I have spent so much of my own investment beyond monetary into Books Around the Corner. My time, my tears, and every ounce of my heart and soul are part of this shop. I want to continue helping readers discover new books, making lasting friends, and provide a community of readers with a monthly virtual book club, monthly book subscriptions, and fun virtual events for years to come.

2024 is now the second year of our READ IT! Program.

WHAT ARE WE RAISING FUNDS FOR?

We want to raise funds to be able to provide a button, a certificate of completion, and a blind date with a book to every participant.

Our overall goal is to also use some of the funds to create a national publicity and marketing campaign to be the very first indie bookshop to run a comparable program on a national level. The BOOK IT! The program is only open to children in schools. That's why we've founded The READ IT! Program which is open to all ages and we want to reach readers across the country.

ABOUT OUR READ IT! PROGRAM

Do you have a reading goal for 2024? Do you struggle with finding your next read? Are you in a reading slump and looking for a way to get your reading going again? Are you searching for the nostalgia of receiving a certificate of completion, a button, and a blind date with a book. Don’t worry Books Around the Corner has you covered! Unlike that program, this challenge is open to all ages not just kids in the U.S.

HOW TO SIGN UP?

- To signup fill out the Google Form HERE with your reading goal

- Purchase at least one of your 2024 reads with Books Around the Corner and email us to let us know that particular book is part of your challenge

YOU'VE REACHED YOUR GOAL NOW WHAT?

Email us a list of the books you've read or share your Goodreads challenge link if you record it there or a photo of it if you have a reading journal. Then you will receive an EXCLUSIVE READ IT! Program Button, official certificate of completion, and a blind date with a book.

GRAND PRIZE

One grand prize winner will receive a Books Around the Corner Book Bundle with books, swag, and other bookish items mailed to them.

By completing your reading goal you are automatically entered. Tag us @spookybookshop and #readitprogram in your stories and posts for extra entries. AND if you do any of the prompts for any of the months that's also a bonus entry!
