Hi…my name is Emma Smith & I’m fundraising for my granddaughter Amanda Thompson. Six months after she moved into her first apartment on March 2, 2021 she got home from work and fell in her in her kitchen and was unable to get up. She was paralyzed from the waist down. After she was rushed to the hospital the doctor’s discovered that there was a problem with her spinal cord. Within a few hours she underwent an 8 hour surgery where they removed the damaged disc that was pressing on her spine and added rods & screws to stabilize her back. The surgery was successful but she is still unable to walk, and is confined to a wheelchair. There are other medical issues that have occurred in addition to being unable to stand or walk. Although she is receiving physical therapy the doctor’s are unable to be sure if or when she’ll walk again. All of this has produced major medical expenses for her continued care as well as extreme stress for her family, especially her mother, my daughter Lynette Thompson. We are hoping with your support we will be able to raise enough money to assist with supplies for her continued care as well as have a down payment for a wheelchair van to not only to take her to her various medical appointments but also to get her out of the house occasionally so she can get out of the house from time to time to try to regain a little normalcy in her life.
