Help support Amanda & Anton Stevens after stroke!
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Alan Duerr, I'm starting this fundraiser on behalf of Amanda and Anton Stevens; my sister and brother in law.
No one expects a loved one to suffer a stroke at age 42… especially someone who is otherwise healthy and has never had any medical issues. Amanda’s husband Anton had a stroke/brain bleed in the early morning hours on August 31st and has been in the hospital since.
After 12 days in the neuro/trauma ICU, multiple EEG's for seizure activity in his brain, intubation to help with breathing, heavy sedation, multiple blood pressure scares, high fevers, CT scans, and aspiration pneumonia, he was finally downgraded to the neuro-telemetry unit for more closely non-critical monitoring.
His numbers have been steadily stabilizing and he’s waking up and interacting a little more every day, but his entire right side is still paralyzed and he’s still unable to talk or write, so it makes communication very difficult and frustrating for all involved.
Amanda has been by his side in the hospital every single day, through the good and bad.. needless to say, it has been an emotional roller coaster for her.
This GoFundMe is being set up as understandably their income is going to suffer as a result of this situation. When Anton is released from the hospital, the doctors are planning to send him to a rehab facility over an hour away. Amanda will most likely need to stay at an extended-stay hotel nearby so she can continue to visit and support every day as best she can. It's been helping so far! That being said, household bills and medical bills are going to start piling up more than they are already.
I know they appreciate all the love and support through social media, messages and visits. Please consider a donation to help lessen the burden on them through this extremely stressful and emotional time. Every little bit helps and is extremely appreciated. Thank you!
