On December 13th, our young, fun-loving Alonzo was involved in a devastating car accident—just one day before his 19th birthday. He was rushed to the trauma center in Boise, where our lives changed instantly as we learned the full extent of his injuries.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Alonzo was taken immediately into life-saving surgery. That first surgery lasted nine hours, during which doctors worked tirelessly to repair the fractures in his back and stabilize his spine. Since then, Alonzo has endured multiple additional procedures, including another major surgery to reconnect and repair his left arm, along with several other medical interventions over the past week as doctors continue to address the severity of his injuries.

Alonzo suffered extensive, life-threatening trauma, including a skull fracture, open nasal bone and frontal sinus fractures, and severe complex lacerations to his forehead, nose, and facial area. He also sustained multiple spinal injuries involving fractures at C1, C2, and C5, as well as a T12–L1 fracture dislocation, along with multiple rib fractures, collapsed lungs, and acute respiratory failure. In addition, Alonzo experienced a grade 4 splenic laceration and serious injuries to both kidneys, making his condition incredibly critical in the days following the accident.

When Alonzo is able to come home, he will be wheelchair-bound, and doctors expect him to remain in a wheelchair for 6–12 months. During this time, he will be working with specialized rehabilitation centers to help him regain strength and learn to walk again. His recovery will be long, intense, and will require ongoing medical care, therapy, and significant home accommodations.

Throughout this unimaginable time, Alonzo’s father, mother, and five siblings have been by his side every single day. Alonzo has shown incredible strength, resilience, and determination—he is truly a warrior.

We are asking for help to ensure Alonzo receives the best possible medical care and rehabilitation, while easing the overwhelming financial burden on his family. Donations will help with medical bills, rehabilitation and therapy expenses, a necessary move to a new home, and essential home modifications to safely accommodate a wheelchair and medical equipment.
