UPDATE:
Hey everyone! It's Elise, Alix's daughter. I am here to give everyone an update of mom and her health. After speaking with all of mom's medical team and discussing her prognosis, the decision has been made to place her in hospice care. She is spending the rest of her time comfortable to home, surrounded by friends and family.
To know mom, is to love her. Everyone knows she has a wonderful mother to not only to her 2 children but has been a great mother figure to every child that ever entered her home. For the past 27 years, Alix has stood strong by her husband's side.
Despite all the diversity throughout her life she has been the rock of this amazing family, so please if able to donate during this trying time, we would be forever grateful.
We are coming to this site again for continued donations. Currently Alix resides in Gulf Shores, but wishes to be laid to rest back in Tuscaloosa. That transport alone is a huge expense to acquire. Any donation, we are grateful for and we ask that you continue to keep us in your prayers during the hard transition.
If unable to donate through GoFundMe, we have other options available:

Hi! My name is Karmon and am a family friend of the Hatters and have their full permission to post this.
On March 16, 2024, Alix's world turned upside down when she became critically ill with septic shock, which resulted in being life flighted to USA in Mobile, AL. Since this day, Alix has been through many medical trials. She is currently in a medical-induced coma, fighting for her life once again, in the ICU at South Baldwin in Foley, AL. This year has been full of not only medical hardships, but financial burdens as well. Over the course of the last 2 months or so, Alix has become wheelchair bound, due to the infection wreaking havoc on her body and has completely disintegrated her left femur head and hip, while also affecting her right hip. With this current admission, Alix has had to endure multiple surgeries with many more in the future. This week alone, she will be having 3-4 surgeries. Alix is currently not a candidate for a total hip replacement until all the infection is cleared from her body. She has a long road to recovery and will require an extensive amount of rehab/therapy.
Alix's husband, Brian, and daughter, Elise, are her primary caregivers. At the moment, they only have 1 source of income. Due to Alix having to have around the clock care since coming home from the hospital in March, Brian has had to step back from his full-time job to provide for his wife of 27 years. They have had to pay out of pocket expenses for a list of things, including: home health, medical supplies, medications, gas/food/hotel expenses for commutes to and from hospital visits and doctor appointments.
We appreciate any donations at this time. Brian and Elise have Venmo and CashApp accounts. I have also set up an account through Alabama Credit Union for donations! Please keep Alix, her family, and medical team in your prayers during this hard time.
