As some of you may know our family, you probably know my little brother, Alex — a young, bright, witty, and talkative boy.
When Alex was 16, doctors discovered something unusual with his heart. Both of his main arteries were on the same side, instead of one on each side as they should be. After months of tests and monitoring, we got the news no family ever wants to hear: Alex would need open-heart surgery within the next four weeks.
His surgery took place today at 7 a.m. (10/22), and Alex did great! He’s now recovering in his hospital room. The first thing he said to me was, “Some strawberries and mangos sound so good right now.” Doctors say he’s doing well, and his heart is working much better now.
This decision took a lot of discussion and courage from our family, and we’re so grateful for the love and support we’ve received from those around us. While many of the medical bills will be covered, missing work and handling the remaining expenses has been challenging.
All proceeds will go toward Alex’s needs during this difficult time. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you all for your love, kindness, and support.
With love,
