Help Support Alexandra And Her Family

On November 4th 2021, my mother, Alexandra Giordano was admitted to Auburn Community Hospital. She has been in the critical care unit at the hospital since then. She is very sick on a ventilator in a medically induced coma. Her sudden illness was unexpected and a complete shock to our family. The doctors have performed an immense amount of tests on her (ultrasounds, CT scans, MRI, an EEG, colonoscopy, endoscopy, spinal tap and more.) She’s had many different complications since being intubated such as acquiring pneumonia, suffering from infection of her organs, developing a blood clot, and other health issues. She has had multiple surgeries since being in the CCU, including a tracheostomy. I am very concerned because she’s gotten progressively worse. My family is working with the doctor to transfer her care. She is in the process of being transferred to another facility with a higher level of care. The cost of transferring to another hospital is outrageously expensive, and we have doubts that her insurance will cover it. The doctor isn’t sure when she will be able to come off of the ventilator. She has a very long road of recovery ahead of her. If and/or when she is healthy enough to be discharged from the hospital, the doctor stated that she would need to be sent to a rehabilitation facility for an extended amount of time to recover. She will require a lot of physical therapy and it will take time for her body to heal. While in the hospital, my mother was robbed. Her cell phone was stolen from her own home. The thief took the phone and was able to access my mom’s checking account and wiped it clean. This experience has been heartbreaking and traumatic. It’s been an incredibly difficult time for my whole family. Things have been especially tough for my step father, my mom’s husband Scott Mattes. He has been making all the medical decisions regarding her treatment, while also trying to keep their business afloat, Drumwright’s Towing Recovery & Repair. This business is their livelihood. It is the only source of income that my mother and step dad have to survive. Scott is trying his best to keep the shop running, but it costs a great deal of money to keep a business going. Unfortunately, the auto shop is at risk of having to be shut down between all of the bills and payroll. In addition to the costs of the business, the taxes are due on the house that my mother owns, as well as the electric/gas bill for her home, and her car insurance payments, etc. Also the hospital bills are another costly expense that is overwhelmingIf you have met my mother, than you know that she has a heart of gold. Anyone that knows Alexandra knows what a kind, selfless and generous person she is. She would give the shirt off her back to help anyone, even a stranger. She lives her life with her heart on her sleeve and shows compassion to every person that she comes in contact with. It breaks my heart that she is in this situation. I am asking for help on behalf of her and also her husband Scott Mattes. They do not deserve what they’re going through. Times are tough right now and our family needs all the help that we can get. Please consider contributing to this cause if you are able to help in any way at all, even just sharing this go fund me page. Thank you for supporting us during this difficult time. It means so much to us.
