Help support Alexanders wait for a new heart

Donation protected

In June of 2023 my best friend and sister Sarah went through (and is still currently going through) something unimaginable that no parent should have to go through.

To start off in August of 2022 she welcomed her last baby whom she named Alexander into the world. He was a very happy and seemingly healthy baby. Fast forward to June 2023 when he was 10 months old, Alex got sick out of the blue. And slowly got worse. Sarah made the decision to take him to the hospital.

Upon arrival just looking at him the nurse knew something was seriously wrong with him. Alexander ended up coding. The Drs and nurses immediately sprung into action and were able to stabilize him. It was determined that he was in heart failure at just 10 months old. The reason they had given at the time was that sometimes it just happens and most parents don't notice until it's too late. He had to be intubated and was very unstable. They determined that he would more than likely need a heart transplant and it would be better for him to be life flighted to a hospital in a nearby city that was better accommodating and equipped to handle a case as severe as his. They also explained that there was a very real possibility that he would not make the flight there. She was not able to fly with him and had to drive to meet him there.

He did make it but was however not out of the woods yet. After a week of being there Alexander went into cardiac arrest and then was placed on ecmo. Which he was on for 28 days. He was placed on the transplant list and was set to be put on a Bivad (Berlin heart).

Now over a year later, he is still currently waiting on a heart transplant. He celebrated his first birthday in the hospital. He has been learning how to play, eat, talk and more recently how to walk. And just trying to be a normal toddler.

Sarah has been with him since day one. Which unfortunately means missing out on her other three kids Nick (9), Katie (5) and Sofia (3). She has missed many milestones, birthdays and just normal everyday life with them for over a year. Money is getting very tight, for food for Sarah while she is there and just for other things. her boyfriend and other kids are not able to visit regularly due to money being so tight. Which is difficult for both Sarah and her boyfriend and father of her children Kevin. Sarah isn't able to spend time with her other children and Kevin can't come spend time with his son or Sarah.

I know times are rough but if you can please consider donating to my sister and her family during this stressful and difficult time in their lives it would be greatly appreciated. Please share if you can. Even if you cannot donate. Thank you so much for taking the time to read a little about Alexander's story.
