Over the last 2 years, we have grown a family at Alembic. Coming to work felt more like coming home. Between our dedicated staff and the support of an amazing neighborhood following, we became something truly special. After making the hard decision to close Alembic during this stressful time, we realize how much our staff will struggle in a climate such as this.
All of our team are hard-working and essential members of our bar family so we will be splitting all assistance amongst all 13 team members without differentiating between part-time and full-time, Front of House and Back of House. The need is great at this point no matter how many hours per week you had on the schedule before our bar was forced to shutter.
Our co-owners, Mikha and Christin, have paid out a full two weeks (80 hours) Paid Time Off to every employee, regardless of full-time vs part-time status or how many hours anyone had accrued in PTO thus far. They have given us transparency into their books and we know that they have just enough money left to re-open if this shelter-in-place order lasts fewer than 8 weeks and are looking for other funding sources if this shelter-in-place order lasts longer that 8 weeks.
If you have enjoyed your time at Alembic and are in a position to help us through this terrifying time, we would sincerely appreciate the support. We all want to be able to survive in place and to be here to serve you just as soon as we get the all clear.
