Help support Alana's fight against cancer

Hi my name is Rob, I am fundraising for Alana.

Alana is a full time nurse at Princeton General Hospital, in Princeton BC. She has recently received the very sad and devastating news that she has been diagnosed with Advanced Kidney Cancer. On November 8th, she is going for a high risk complicated, an open abdominal surgery to remove her left kidney, with a 10cm mass inside and also the extension of the tumor traveling through the veins to within 1.3 cm from her heart. After speaking with her physician and surgeon, she is leaving to go stay near the VGH hospital until her surgery. With such a large blood clot so close to her heart, it is not ideal for her to be far away from the life saving strategies available in a major city center hospital. Alana is already feeling the financial stress and worry of having to travel for this surgery and accommodations and meals for her family to stay with her in preparation for the major upcoming surgery. At this point, it does seem that follow-up oncology treatment will be recommended, which means an unknown amount of time off work and travel for treatment.

Anyone who knows Alana, also knows she is a very independent person, strong and proud person whose last resort or "want" is to even consider asking for help from anyone. She has always been one to give and do for others, which is evident in her career choice.

She is a loving and devoted Mom to 3 kids, almost grown , but 2 still under momma's wing, ages 17 & 18 and 25.

At this point, we hope to lessen the financial stress so that she can go into this surgery with one less worry. I will be posting updates as they become available.
