Anthony (AJ) Fay is a hard-working, dedicated and loving husband and father. He and his wife, Lynne, could use your love and support as AJ battles Stage IV Bile Duct Cancer while raising their three young kids; Anthony Jr- age 7, Michael- age 5, and Julianna- age 3.
At the end of 2022, on Thanksgiving Day, AJ started showing signs of jaundice. After abnormal bloodwork, leading to a hospitalization, AJ was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma, or Bile Duct Cancer, and an emergency procedure was needed in order to open up the blocked bile ducts in his liver. His wife, Lynne, was 25 weeks pregnant with their third child at this time.
In the following months, after working with multiple hospitals; including the Mayo Clinic, UPMC Pittsburg, Cleveland Clinic, along with their local hospital URMC Strong Memorial Hospital, it was determined that a liver transplant would be the only possible curative option. With Cholangiocarcinoma being a very aggressive and hard to treat cancer, time was of the essence. He was started on chemotherapy and immunotherapy right away, was added to the transplant list after evaluations and waited. Hope was restored when a Living Liver Donor was matched to AJ in the Summer of 2023. Unfortunately, during pre-surgery screening, it was discovered that AJ's tumors had metastasized outside of the liver, classifying him with Stage IV Bile Duct Cancer, therefore making AJ ineligible to receive the liver transplant.
Since then he has continued chemotherapy. Medical procedures are routinely preformed every 6 weeks to allow the bile ducts to drain properly from the pressure of the tumors blocking them. He has experienced many medical emergencies related to the treatments or the cancer itself. Until June 2025, he had continued working full time through it all. After undesirable news, it was suggested to AJ and his family to have him go on disability from work. AJ is the sole provider for his family, as it was decided to have Lynne be a stay-at-home mom while their kids are young.
This fundraiser was initially established to help the Fay Family in their beginning stages of doctor evaluations, travel fare, medical procedures, and treatments on their quest to get AJ a liver transplant. It has since transitioned into more of a financial support for their continued battle with this disease and as a hub for updates from the family. More importantly your prayers, well wishes and continued love and emotional support are welcomed, cherished and greatly appreciated. Thank you for all of your support!
