Adelyn is an 8-year-old girl who already faces significant challenges every day due to her epilepsy, autism, global developmental delay, 22q duplication, and a hole in her heart. Over the past week, however, she’s been enduring even more difficult symptoms—non-stop tremors that have begun to worsen. Initially, it was thought that these tremors were a side effect of her epilepsy medication, sodium valproate. After weaning her off the medication under careful supervision, doctors discovered that this was not the cause, and the true reason for the tremors remains unknown.
Adelyn now needs specialist testing to determine what is causing the tremors, which are escalating daily. These tremors have begun to affect nearly every aspect of her life—her ability to swallow, walk, and even eat. She’s barely able to sleep because of them, and she can no longer walk on her own. Adelyn is having accidents and requires constant care and supervision.
Her family is facing an incredibly difficult time as they navigate these challenges. We are reaching out to you, our community, for support. We’ve set up this GoFundMe to help Adelyn and her mom, Amelia, cover expenses that are not covered by occupational therapy or the hospital. Unfortunately, doctors are unable to give a clear timeline for how long Adelyn will need to stay in the hospital, but they’ve made it clear that she will not be able to leave until they figure out what is causing her tremors.
As you can imagine, the financial burden of living in the hospital for an indefinite period is unsustainable, especially for a single mother like Amelia. She has been doing everything in her power to care for Adelyn, but the costs are overwhelming. The family is already receiving all the help they can, but they need more support to get through this incredibly tough time.
Any donation, no matter the size, would mean the world to Adelyn and her family. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others. Your support, in any form, is deeply appreciated.
Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness during this difficult time. ❤️
