Help support Addam Purple's recovery

Hello, my name is Wilde Purple, and both myself and my mother, Amy Purple are asking for help. We want to save my dad, Addam.

On September 8th around 5:00pm, my dad came home early from work feeling nauseous and clutching his chest in pain. He had signs of vertigo and felt like he was in a mental fog-hardly even able to find his way back home. When he had started slurring his speech and the left side of his face began to droop, my heart sank through my own chest. I knew we had to take action-immediately. I rushed my dad to the emergency room with symptoms that appeared to be a major stroke. He ended up having to stay for almost a week in the hospital under observation while tests and scans were done. I alternated shifts staying beside him with my mother Amy, neither of us wanting to leave him alone there while he went through such a traumatic event. He already had a phobia of hospitals before-and this definitely didn't help. I would have stayed there 24/7 if I could, but unfortunately I didn't have any way to step aside from work.

While a severe stroke has thankfully been ruled out, he is currently suffering from hemiplegia — partial paralysis affecting one side of his body. Even now dad still has issues moving himself around and living normally. He can only walk with a cane, has a stutter, and still has trouble speaking in full sentences. Above it all, he's saddened and frustrated that he isn't able to help around the house and continue pitching in for bills and getting back to our day-to-day life. At this stage, we simply don’t have all the answers. Many of his test results are still pending and even more that still need to be taken, but we do have an appointment with a neurologist in the coming weeks that will hopefully provide more clarity for the next steps.

Because the full scope of my dad's condition and recovery needs are still unknown, we’ve set a higher fundraising cap than we hope to need — just to ensure we’re covered. The emergency room visit alone cost nearly $30,000. We’re asking for help to cover the current and upcoming medical bills, medications, transportation, rehabilitation, general costs of living, and rent. My dad is unable to work either of his jobs, and it's more than I can manage on my own solo income. We were barely making it by before between the two of us, and this whole emergency has cost me countless sleepless nights, frustrating phone calls, and double shifts at my job just to keep a roof over our heads-and it still isn't enough.

Any support — financial or otherwise — means the world to us right now. Thank you for standing with my dad and us during this difficult time. No matter how much you are able to contribute, we please ask you to share this around with as many people as you can-I want to be able to help my dad get through this. I want him to be able to move around again like he used to, to teach me his old family recipes. To see him ride his motorcycle on the open roads again and feel the joy it brings to him. I want my father to live-but in order to make that happen, I need your help.

My eternal thanks,
Wilde Purple
