All y'all know my big brother, Adam. He's the best!
He's currently in the hospital, likely facing some hefty medical bills down the road. If you're able and feel so inclined, please, help him out.
This past Friday, he started experiencing shortness of breath. He was having trouble sleeping because he'd wake up and not be able to catch his breath. Poor Adam was even coughing up a bit of blood. Monday he FINALLY went in to be checked out. They did a Covid swab, took his heart rate, and temp. The doctors found his heart rate to very high and sent him to the ED. There they did more testing and gave him meds to help slow down his heart rate. They have not yet been able to stabilize his heart rate. They found that his heart was in AFib with RVR ( Atrial Fibrillation with Rapid Ventricular Response. I'll let you Google that). It is VERY RARE for someone so young. They also found he has a severe case of pneumonia. They have now done two Rapid Covid tests, both came back negative.
Today, he went through extensive testing and a Cardiac Catheterization (a tube up his arm up into his heart for monitoring). Last I heard, they are talking about doing a Cardio-vert tomorrow to literally reset his heart. Stop and restart. Power cycle his heart to get the chambers in sync. Scary stuff but Adam is doing great!
Mom was able to visit and will be the only person allowed to see him the duration of his stay. We can send well wishes and let him know we're thinking of him. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated.
He's going to be out of work for a little bit. Thankfully, he does have insurance but there will be an out-of-pocket cost and additional needs. Please, help if you can.
