Help Support Adam and His Family

Donation protected

As many of you know, my brother Adam has been suffering from severe Crohn’s Disease since his early teens. He is a loving husband to Stefanie and father of 3 children, twins, Ryan and Sydney, that are seniors in high school and Austin who is 11.  Unfortunately over the years, he developed a liver condition known as PSC (Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis). Adam’s health has continued to deteriorate and he is now in desperate need of a liver transplant. Adam has been on the transplant list for over a year  and has been called twice for possible transplants where neither was a perfect match.

This week our family mourned the loss of a very close family friend who passed suddenly.  Michael Strouch was a 51 year old father of 3, the oldest being Zack who is a senior in high school and twins who are sophomores in high school, Jacob and Rebecca.  On November 8th as Michael’s funeral ended, I turned my phone on and received several messages from my brother Adam saying he was approved at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio for a living donor.  An anonymous donor who wanted to help save a person's life was a perfect match for Adam. The donor will be putting his life and the life of his family on hold to help my brother. It was miracle news to receive in such time of sorrow.  Adam is currently scheduled to receive his new liver in December.

In a living donor transplant, a piece of the liver is removed from the living donor and will be transplanted into Adam.  The procedure is possible because the liver regenerates itself.

This entire process has been emotionally and financially devastating on our family.  Adam’s condition makes everyday living difficult. His wife Stefanie has been left to take care of the kids and work as much as she can.  Supporting a family of 5 has not been easy. This will only become more difficult for them as Adam will be in Ohio having his transplant and recovering.  Stefanie will be unable to work for a period of time.

As difficult as it is to ask for assistance, this Go Fund Me will help cover costs while Adam recuperates and will help them get back on their feet.  We would also like to donate a percent of what we raise to help other transplant families who are donors and recipients. The money that we will be donating to other families will be in memory of Michael Strouch. Michael’s family is also asking that all family and friends that would like to make a donation in Michael’s memory to make it to Adam’s Go Fund me account as well.  This will allow Michael’s memory to carry on through others.

Organ donation is life saving.  It helps give new meaning to life in times of sorrow.  Without organ donation Adam would not have his second chance at life. Thank you to all who contribute to this fund.  You have no idea how much this means to our family.
