Help support Adam and family
Donation protected
Adam and Patricia Quinn, both 35, live in the Barrhaven area. They are your typical young family, Adam working for a concrete, paving, landscape company and Patricia, coming to the end of her maternity leave with their young son Lewis, who turned 1 in March.
On Saturday, January 13th, as the result of an accidental fall, Adam suffered a devastating neck injury. He underwent a 10 ½ hour spinal surgery and was put on a ventilator to allow him to breathe.
Although Adam has suffered severe paralysis, he has made some great progress from his initial diagnosis. He is now able to breathe on his own and has regained some movement in his upper arms and forearm area. After 5 weeks in ICU, he was transferred to the Neuroscience Acute Care Unit at the Civic Hospital Campus and then on March 12th, Adam moved to the Rehab Centre at the General Hospital Campus. Each and every day is a new challenge that Adam has embraced with a positive, inspiring attitude. His journey will be a long one and he is ever so thankful for his wife Patricia, his mother Diane, his brother Randy and his extended family and friends who have supported them all to this point with thoughts and prayers. As Adam and Patricia learn to cope with their “new normal”, they will have challenges and decisions to make along the way, specifically living arrangements to accommodate wheelchair accessibility, personal care support and the many other concerns involving a spinal cord injury.
We are now reaching out to our family, friends and community to offer support to enable them to comfortably raise their young family.
