This campaign seeks to raise funds to facilitate an urgent kidney transplant surgery for our dear brother, AbdulMalik Mudashir, a 37-year-old selfless social welfare and humanitarian volunteer who is known to have spearheaded numerous fundraising initiatives to support others in need in the past.
AbdulMalik has been a strong pillar of support in our community for nearly two decades. He is an entrepreneur, counsellor and inspirational faith-focused writer whose influence has helped shape many youngsters who have come in contact with him in person or through his writings.
His undergraduate years were dedicated to supporting both his colleagues and junior students, especially through the Muslim Student Society of Nigeria, a faith-based organisation that caters to students’ welfare on campus. After graduation, he continued in the same direction.
It's devastating and troubling to observe how a well-known benefactor now finds himself in need. As the Eid festival approaches, we hope to alleviate AbdulMalik's pain with funds from this campaign.
A medical report, issued by the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), confirmed that he has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and urgently requires a kidney transplant to give life another chance.
While awaiting the transplant, however, he must undergo weekly dialysis sessions costing ₦120,000 each, with an additional weekly laboratory investigation and medications estimated at ₦50,000, which brings the interim weekly cost to ₦170,000.
It is more troubling, as this is AbdulMalik’s second battle with kidney disease. Earlier in 2021, he had successful kidney surgery after a similar fundraiser from family, friends, and well-wishers.
Abdulrahman Abdulsalam, a relative of someone who benefited from AbdulMalik’s kindness, described his personality by saying, “AbdulMalik has a heart of gold.” He never hesitated to rally support for anyone in need, organising fundraisers and offering his time generously.
“It’s heartbreaking to see him go through this again, especially knowing how much he cares and sacrifices for people around him. When my sister had an accident and needed funds during her long hospital stay, AbdulMalik championed the design of the fundraising flyer and committed to helping us update it regularly, as funds came in for almost two years. He is so selfless,” he added.
AbdulMalik means a lot to us. We will, therefore, appreciate every penny's contribution to this cause and hope that it serves the purpose of bringing lasting relief to AbdulMalik, his family, and friends.
Please, share our campaign with your network. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
