H E L L O!

My name is Jess Dann and I am fortunate to call Troy Legomski and Ashley Desjarlais my friends. Meeting Troy at Elite Stables, we were instant friends and through our love of horses, have continued to develop a friendship. Luckily, I then met his wife Ashley, her contagious, unmistakable laugh and straight-up nature suited me instantly.

Many in our community are familiar with Troy and Ashley. Let me fill you in if you aren’t!

They are:

▪️Parents to two wonderful children, Tavyn and Taylah, are a proud part of the Hillcrest school community.

▪️ Are integral members of the Elite Stables team with Troy their head coach and Ashley working with families behind the scenes; corresponding, scheduling, planning.

▪️ Are wonderful, supportive patrons to MANY Petrolia and area businesses. Always recommending, sharing and liking Facebook posts and pages. Urging people to support local, adding to our thriving community.

▪️ People who strive to be compassionate, loving and inclusive to one and all.

So, that’s the tip of the iceberg. Of course, on top of the above, they are supportive friends, family-oriented, animal advocates, spontaneous and adventurous with big dreams for the future, individually and as a family.

On Friday, January 28th, Troy was diagnosed with cancer. Specifically, a Neuroendocrine Tumour is very rare and aggressive. After suffering for too long with severe nasal congestion, Troy and Ashley pushed to get answers and needless to say, this was not the anticipated outcome.

Over (at least) the next 6 months, Troy will undergo intense surgery and assertive treatment to throw everything at this tumour. Due to this being rare cancer, even hard at this point to distinguish what exactly it is, Troy will be part of a research study and has an incredible team.. the best of the best… treating him. As his oncologist has said, he is healthy, he’s young and as many know, he radiates positivity and that’s why doctors are confident!

However, it’s a long, uncertain road for an undeserving family. This is where we, this amazing community we have, come together and do what we can to offer peace of mind in times of uncertainty. Every person can appreciate the expense to raise and care for a family in 2022. Especially when done as whole-heartedly and thoughtfully as these two parents do.

I appeal to you to help in ANY way, big or small. If you prefer gift cards rather than contributing to this gofundme, that is appreciated. Gas cards for the daily commute back and forth to London, Grocery gift cards to stock their fridge or restaurant gift cards to help on those long, exhausting days. Coffee shop gift cards for a soothing cup of joe! You get it. ☺️ It’s a great opportunity to help businesses AND this family at the same time, so why not help and shop locally.
