Help support a trans refugee's medical transition
Donation protected
Hi everyone! I am fundraising on behalf of my friend because she doesn't have a bank account yet. All funds raised on here will be given to her to help her transition, this is what she has to say:
Hello! In this fundraiser, I would like to remain anonymous for the sake of my safety. I am a Khaliji asylum seeker in the UK. My journey has been nothing short of turbulent, and marked by challenges. I'm reaching out to humbly ask for your support in my transition journey.
At the age of 17, I fled on of the GCC countries on a scholarship to escape the physical, verbal and mental abuse at the hands of my parents. I got diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and gender dysphoria. I started on Hormone Replacement Therapy, and by the time I am writing this, I have been about two and a half years on it.
Unfortunately, my journey has not been easy. I was forced to come out to my parents and they have threatened me repeatedly and said they wanted to "make me feel homeless". Recently, I needed to renew some of my identification documents and I was unable to do so without returning to my country and putting my safety at risk. After a lot of research and consultations, I sought asylum in the UK in order to preserve my safety. My claim for asylum is currently being considered by the Home Office.
This fundraiser is set to humbly ask for financial support for my transition journey since I still struggle with distress from my gender dysphoria. One of the main causes of my gender dysphoria is my voice, so I am setting this fundraiser to help me with my Voice Feminisation Surgery. According to my research, the surgery should cost no more than £7,000. This amount includes consultations, follow-ups, voice training, anaesthesia, the surgery, and so much more. If this fundraiser reaches its goal, I will be pursuing the surgery and any extra funding will be donated or reserved for future surgeries such as sex reassignment surgery.
Nothing is considered too little for this goal, and even reading and spreading this fundraiser is hugely appreciated! Thank you so much for reading my story, supporting my journey, and helping me move forward in safety and authenticity!
